Student Organizations

The department has a student chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery. Officers recently elected include

• Nick Wertzberger, president
• Brent Horky, vice president
• Zach Booth, treasurer
• David Gotrik, secretary

Although not technically a student organization, teams of three undergraduates frequently participate in the ACM's annual International Collegiate Programming Contest. The regional contests (which take place every fall semester) select teams that advance to the international contest finals in places like Tokyo, Shanghai, Prague, and Hawaii. If you are interested in participating in the regional contest — and perhaps the international finals, please contact Patrick Cavanaugh, who serves as the team's coach.

We are also interested in assessing the level of interest in Upsilon Pi Epsilon (UPE), the international honor society for the computing and information disciplines. We believe UNO certainly has ideal candidates for this organization; now we need to proceed with establishing a chapter! If you are interested in UPE, please contact Stan Wileman.
