Association for Computing Machinery

ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest

Upsilon Pi Epsilon (UPE)

Student Organizations

The department has a student chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery. Among the most popular chapter events are the technical talks covering topics that usually don't get covered in traditional lectures. New officers for the organization will be selected in the fall, so stay tuned for more information!

Although not technically a student organization, teams of three undergraduates frequently participate in the annual ACM's International Collegiate Programming Contest. The regional contests (which take place every fall semester) select teams that advance to the international contest finals in places like Tokyo, Shanghai, Prague, and Hawaii. If you are interested in participating in the regional contest — and perhaps the international finals, please contact Stan Wileman.

We are also interested in assessing the level of interest in Upsilon Pi Epsilon (UPE), the international honor society for the computing and information disciplines. We believe UNO certainly has ideal candidates for this organization; now we need to proceed with establishing a chapter! If you are interested in UPE, please contact Stan Wileman.
