Graduate Certificate in Information Assurance (PENDING APPROVAL)

The Information Assurance (IA) certificate focuses on the study, development, evaluation, and testing of security technologies to achieve secure data and information creation, storage, communication, sharing and maintenance. Students interested in the Information Assurance certificate are encouraged to contact the chair of the computer science graduate program committee.

Course Requirements    A student wishing to obtain a Certificate in Information Assurance must complete the following courses (3 semester hours each).

Required core courses - 6 semester hours

• CSCI 8410 — Distributed System and Network Security
• CSCI 8420 — Information Assurance

Elective courses (select two) - 6 semester hours

• CIST 8440 — Secure Systems Engineering
• CSCI 8430 — Trusted Systems Design, Analysis, and Development

Prerequisite courses - 3 semester hours

• CSCI 8366 — Introduction to Information Security (or equivalent)
