Graduate Advising Students in the Computer Science master's program are expected to be aware of the requirements for the degree and their status in the program. The most effective method to accomplish this is to occasionally meet with the graduate advisor, Carla Frakes. She can help you with preparing your initial plan of study, modifying it (if necessary), and providing general advice regarding the graduate program. It is important to consult her prior to registration to ensure the courses you select will apply toward your degree requirements. If it is not possible to visit in person, you may contact her by e-mail. The department's Graduate Program Committee has general responsibility for the management of the graduate program. It is this committee that makes admission recommendations, assigns graduate assistantships, approves thesis, project and graduate independent study proposals, administers comprehensive examinations, and handles other matters associated with the graduate program. This committee can advise students on specific issues. Of course, individual members of the graduate faculty can also provide advice regarding the graduate program, and in particular, their primary areas of interest. Students should also be aware of the general and degree-specific material in the university's graduate catalog. Printed copies can be obtained from the Graduate Studies offices in EAB 202, or on-line here. |
